Big News!

Melissa and I are expecting to expand the family on or around July 12th of 2004. We’re both ecstatic about the news. As I suspect is normal, we’re both a bit scared, but the excitement overwhelms it.

Our extended family is all quite excited. This will be the first grandchild for both our parents, so I’m sure the excitement is that much greater.

While I’m sure there are many out there who feel that this method of announcement is tacky or too public, I’m fine with it. If you prefer more private access to us, please feel free to email us at dave_h and fallatmelissa at braunlift.com and hotmail.com respectively.

By the way, this is why I was so happy earlier this month. (:

I’ll post about other things soon enough. I have several hum-dinger stories to tell. (:

  1. Congratulations!!! We’ll pray for you!

  2. Ultra super happy congratulations!!
    That is really exciting!
We shall have to have a celebration!

  3. Oh man that’s great news. Congrats congrats congrats! It’s a bit early, but started thinking of any names?

  4. Tacky–you’re going to spend an extra six weeks in purgatory for this one! Great news, congradumalations and all that jazz!

  5. I will drink beer in your honor tonight.

  6. Dave and I are in the really rough stages of name planning. There isn’t an overabundance of names that go neatly with Heigl. Think Michael Heigl for instance. It just doesn’t work.

There are a few names we like. For a girl we are currently favoring Emma Suzann (Suzann is my middle name). But we also like Ruth and Grace as first names.

Boys are a lot harder. I don’t like most masculine names. I don’t know why. My personal favorite is Caleb. Dave likes Ezekiel. I just don’t know if I would like to have a baby “Zeke” ew.

  7. How about Riley. Riley’s a cool name

  8. How about baby “EZ?”

  9. It is better than Zeke. Riley isn’t too bad. It is different. I like different.

  10. Hey, Emma’s one of our current favorite girl names. 🙂 We would agree with you that picking boys’ names is more difficult, for some reason.

Zachary has that whole Z thing going for it.

  11. When Nate said y’all were thinking about “Emma” I was like, “Noooo, that’s ours.” But then Nate was like, “Well, they do have first dibs since they are pregnant first.” I guess there could be two Emmas. That is, if we ever have a girl. And that won’t be for awhile.

    Congratulations!

  12. I like the name Zachary Michael =D. And Alexander David, as it turns out. Also William Xavier (our third that didn’t quite make the cut). Boys’ names were a cinch to come up with.

Ryan and I couldn’t really agree on girls’ names. I really like Kaitlyn (or Catherine Lynn, I suppose), and I think Ryan would have been okay with a “Katie”. I don’t remember that whole naming thing very well. We got a book and discussed it one night when we were driving back down 70 to Terre Haute.

One day, as the deadline was drawing near, we sat down and wrote out all of the names we liked from the baby book. Then we took turns eliminating names, and categorizing ones we only liked for first or middle names. Of course, by that time, we were pretty sure we had two boys, and so we didn’t give girls’ names much thought.

But to wrap everything up, congratulations to the two of you! Better start lookin’ for a babysitter ;-).

*starts humming the song “Z is for Zachary“[0]*

[0] Which happens to sound an awful lot like “C is for Cookie

  13. Congratulations, friend!

  14. Big big big congrats! I’m very happy for you.

We’ve always liked Emma Grace, but haven’t used it (yet). Maybe if we have a couple more girls one of them will get it. 😉

Let us know if you have any questions, about pregnancy, etc. We’ll be happy to share our experiences.

  15. Thanks Jacob. We really appreciate that!

  16. Here’s a good question.. where do babies come from?

  17. Happy parenting, Heigls!

  18. By the way, July 11th is a great day. That’s my eldest’s birthday. Gives you something to shoot for. 😉

  19. If we’re talking about Z-names, how about Zontar or Zoltron?
