The “what was I thinking” smoothie

Ingredients:
-six ice cubes
-one cup buttermilk
-half a cup of applesauce
-one banana
-one tomato
-two strawberry popsicles scraped off the stick
-two tablespoons brown sugar (takes edge of the tomato tartness)

Blend till smooth. Makes two sixteen ounce smoothies that are slightly tart and probably pretty good for you. (:

  1. I made a real bad one last night; decaf (that was my first mistake) coffee grounds, peanut butter, hot chocolate mix, skim milk, and ice. I’m not sure what I was thinking. It may have been better if I had added more hot chocolate mix. I dunno, though.

My favorite is 10 ice cubes, 1 banana, 1/2 cup skim milk, 2 tbs creamy peanut butter, and 2 tbs hot choc. mix. It has a rich chocolatey flavor that is tempered by the savory peanut butter and accented by the banana. High protein, too. Mmm, mmm, smoothies.

  2. I should have mentioned, but my smoothie was really tasty, suprisingly enough.

  3. For some reason, I feel compelled to back Dave up here…

  4. Wow, you guys make ’em complicated. Our recipe which has served well so far:

    several scoops vanilla frozen yogurt
    banana
    half cup or so milk
mixed berry yoplait yogurt (can also use frozen strawberries/blueberries)

    mix. pour. enjoy.

  5. my more normal fare is much simpler:

    -one banana
    -one or two oranges
    -cup or so frozen strawberries
    -couple cups vanilla ice cream
    -some milk

    blend until deliscious

  6. I guess I’m just a simple guy

    – Heaps of ice cream
    – Swiss miss packet
    – Add milk as blending — as little as possible to make the consistency of the mix a non-solid

  7. All of my recipies include rum…

  8. Jerry wins.

  9. I put bailey’s in mine sometimes. Mixing rum with icecream/ice tends to make things to liquidy for me.

  10. liquidy does not matter if it has RUM!

Maybe you just need colder ice.

  11. Just rum with some ice would be okay – no blender required.
