Streams

Here’s an interesting stream that diverged in my consciousness this morning: I woke up and by the time I was in the shower, for whatever reason, I was thinking about blogging. That made me think of my “Thanks” post, which made me think about how early I get up, which led me to a conversation Jamie and I had recently about how we used to stay up later before we had kids, from which I started thinking about my kids, and specifically about Molly and how I have trouble connecting to her (I think it’s a male/female thing, but she is really quirky, too), which made me think of the word cipher, as in she is something of a cipher to me. That threw me waaaay back to a short film we watched in middle school called Cipher in the Snow. I don’t know if anyone else watched it in their schools, but I think it was about a little boy who was overlooked/ignored/whatever by teachers and other school kids, and one day he was just so depressed that as he got off the bus he collapsed in the snow and died (maybe — I don’t remember it having a happy ending but maybe he didn’t die). I think the moral was that we should be nice to everyone or something like that. Anyway, thinking about that led me to “I should blog about this” and that’s how it got here. Have a nice day!
